S/3298 Antique Treen 19th Century Sycamore Knitting Sheath

An excellent square sycamore knitting sheath, having a single loose ball in a caged lantern, with carved initials T M W and dated 1847. The remaining three sides have incised cross hatching. It is attached to a six link chain, with a swivel section below a hook end. The whole is carved from two single pieces of wood, joined together at the swivel. It has a good pale colour and retains a patination.
