S/3335 Antique Treen 19th Century Beech Snuff Shoe

A most unusual beech snuff shoe in the form of a clog, having a toe carved with initials V.B.F., surrounded by leaf decoration. Instead of a hinged or sliding lid in the traditional manner, there is a small hole at the back of the heel, with a well fitting peg to keep the snuff in place. The whole has a lovely honey colour and original patination.
