S/3446 Antique Treen 19th Century Mahogany Money Box

An interesting Victorian mahogany octagonal money box, having an inlaid chess board and money slot in the top, while all the sides are inlaid alternatively with an ebony and boxwood diamond design. There is no opening to obtain the coins, so an angled knife must have been used through the slot. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
