S/3423 Antique Georgian Lignum Vitae Tea Caddy

A rare and most interesting oval lignum vitae tea caddy, having a brass stop hinge and lock. The overhanging lid has concentric wriggle work incised line decoration and the body has a wide band of enclosed chip carving and a small key hole. The whole, in both heart and sap wood, has an extremely good colour and patination.
