S/3544 Antique Treen 19th Century Pear Wood Pen Case

A rare and exceptionally fine quality pen case, the whole in carved pear wood simulating a brass studded leather trunk, having stitched end handles and twin straps to the brass hinged lid. The front has a simulated locking strap and a brass button catch. The interior has a velvet lined lift out fitted tray for four pens, above two velvet lined compartments for nibs, with a further three recesses for a rubber and other accessories. On the right side is a square simulated leather trunk with stitched sides and a brass folding handle and button catch, containing a glass ink pot. The interior of the lid is lined in original blue silk. The whole has a lovely pale honey colour, is in fine condition and has a good patination. It is a serious item for collectors of pens and writing implements.
