S/3673 Antique Treen 19th Century Yew Wood Tobacco Jar and Plunger
A fine quality early 19th century solid yew wood turned tobacco jar and plunger, having a base with three protruding rounded and grooved bands, that has at some time suffered shrinkage to one side, and has had a quality repair with a wide white metal band of riveted construction.
The well fitting and air tight plunger has a well turned urn shaped handle with a ball finial. The whole has a lovely colour and grain as often found in yew wood, which makes this an interesting and most desirable item of treen.
