S/3704 Antique Treen 19th Century Birch Washing Bat

A good curved birch washing bat, extensively carved as a love token, having a flowering plant in a ring handled pot, two love birds,a heart, initialled M.A. and dated 1895, all within a delicate chip carved border. It has a protruding shaped handle with a hole for hanging within a carved star. This design of washing bat is associated with the area of Skane in Southern Sweden. The whole has a pleasing nut brown colour and has original patination.
