S/3752 Antique Treen 19th Century Mahogany Dated Knitting Sheath

A curved tapered mahogany knitting sheath dated 1840, having delicate chip carved sides and a channel moulded centre with a carved date of 1840, above initials T.W. separated by an X to ward off evil spirits at the needle end. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
