S/3771 Antique Treen 19th Century Mahogany Book Box

A good quality mahogany book box, having a rounded spine in figured mahogany and a full sized pull out drawer. The whole is extensively inlaid in a squared geometric pattern of different woods, with a central crucifix to each side, possibly indicating that it was made to enclose a prayer book. The whole has a lovely rich contrasting colour and excellent patination.
