S/3725 Antique 16th Century Oak Boarded Chest of the Elizabethan Period

A good small late 16th century boarded oak chest of the Elizabethan Period, having a lid with staple hinges and chip carved ends, that opens to reveal a plain interior (candle box missing). The front, with original iron lock and plate, has chip carved ends and a full width band of linked classical guilloche carving with incised moulding above and below. The sides have bifurcated ends in the traditional manner. It is in unrestored condition and has a good colour retaining a patination.
