S/3685 Antique Treen Pair of 19th Century Fruitwood Love Spoons

A fine and rare pair of 19th century fruitwood Welsh love spoons, having both handles incorporating pierced decorations starting with two suns with carved rays above a single heart, with a club to each side and central wheel with shaped cross members, with an inscribed club to either side. Below is another heart with a diamond either side. The tips of the handles are turned continuously into a scroll and they have tapered stems and elongated pointed bowls. They have beautiful and discreet chip carving to both edges of the handles. There is a small historic repair to one handle that has been expertly restored and is hardly noticeable. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
