S/3942 Antique Treen Early 20th Century Ash Sussex Log Bowl
A medium sized Sussex ash log bowl, which came in four sizes and were made from sawing across the grain of a log, and then turned leaving a stepped foot.
A similar example is illustrated in David Levi's book Treen for the Table, plate 11/19 on page 150, and he suggests that they were farmhouse eating bowls.
The whole is dry and unpolished with an attractive grain.
