S/3921 Antique Treen Fruitwood Bicker of the Georgian Period

An unusual late 18th century or early 19th century fruitwood Scottish bicker, having a lug handle to either side. Bickers are usually staved, often in alder and sycamore, and bound with willow. This example is turned with the decoration simulating willow banding, and has a shallow recessed base. It is a rare item for the collector. For similar decoration, see page 83 in Treen for the Table by Jonathan Levi. The whole has a lovely colour and patination.
