S/3922 Antique Early 19th Century Toleware Nutmeg Grater

A delightful pocket sized oval toleware nutmeg grater, simulating tortoiseshell and having two hinged compartments, one for grating and the other for storing or receiving the grated nutmeg. The lid has a decorated pewter hinge and shield shaped vacant cartouche. It has small chipping to the bottom of the lid. Other than that it is in excellent condition.
