S/4016 Antique Treen 19th Century Folk Art Carved Mahogany Box

An attractive small Victorian folk art mahogany carved box of joined construction, after earlier examples, which were often carved from the solid. The sliding lid has a central heart with cross hatching, with leaves under. The remaining sides are all bordered with zigzag decoration and carved with X motifs. The whole has a pleasing rich colour and retains a patination.
