S/4187 Antique Treen 19th Century Boxwood Apothecary's Bottle Case

A pleasing Victorian boxwood apothecary's bottle case, having a screw on lid. Large amounts of these well turned bottle cases were made throughout the Victorian era. They were intended for protection and especially while travelling and often carried in a fitted case, and were made by speciality turners in selected boxwood. They occasionally had stamped names and sometimes inscriptions as to their contents. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
