S/4260 Antique Treen 19th Century Mahogany Durham Knitting Sheath

A good quality mahogany Durham knitting sheath, having a glazed window at the needle end, lined in green paper with a white paper rectangle inscribed E. Nicholson G.R. The slightly curved shaft of square tapered section with bone inlay, has cut out triangular decoration and a curled end, with a diagonal cut for the cow band. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
