S/4267 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood Nutcracker
An excellent quality and well carved fruitwood screw type nutcracker, having a tapered octagonal handle with an octagonal leaf carved collar. The top comprises of a clenched fist with the hand holding a carved ball, with the opposite side open to receive the nut. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
An almost identical one is illustrated in the Art and Character of Nutcrackers by Arlene and George Wagner on page 72.
