S/4380 Antique Treen 19th Century Boxwood Teacher's Clicker or Clicket

A 19th century well turned boxwood teacher's clicker, also known as a clicket or snapper, having incised lines and an acorn finial. These interesting items were used for calling inattentive children to order in the classroom. Early examples have the trigger held by a gut cord. Later examples have a spring loaded trigger. Notice the angled thumb piece at the end. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
