S/4409 Antique Treen Folk Art 19th Century Birch Bark Oval Box from Lapland

A small charming birch bark oval box, having a pine fitted lid and naturalistic open handle, which is surrounded by two raised tiers of half moon decoration. The body has two bands of similar decoration with small intermittent sunken circles, coloured green, yellow and red, and is fitted with a solid pine base. We are of the opinion that this came from Lapland.
