S/4400 Antique Treen Late 17th or Early 18th Century Ladle
A lovely late 17th or early 18th century ladle, made from a single piece of a mulberry tree. The bowl was carved from a piece of burr wood and the handle from the trunk, being straight grain, following the original form of the tree. The handle has a carved stop piece at the end to prevent it from sliding into the bowl. It has a wonderful colour, excellent patination and amazing grain, and is a truly rare and important piece for a collector.
