S/4448 Antique Treen 19th Century Sycamore Silk Reel Box

A beautifully carved sycamore circular Victorian silk reel box, having a lid carved with an intricate design, that is fitted to the base with conforming decoration. The interior has six small pegged wooden reels, each lettered and holding four yards of silk, two of these were missing and we have made and replaced them. There are six small brass collared holes in the side for the thread to pass through when in use. The whole has an excellent shaded colour and patination.
