S/4558 Antique Treen 18th Century Mahogany Chip Carved Stay Busk

An 18th century mahogany stay busk of flat tapered form, having rounded ends and extensively carved with graduated six chip carved roundels, terminating in a further encased leaf design. This example is of identical form to a slightly larger version we sold last year, see archive section, number 4093, which was in the late W.J. Shepherd collection sold at Sotheby's in December 1983, catalogue page number 89, lot 672. The whole has a pleasing colour and retains a patination.
