S/4584 Antique Treen 18th Century Dutch Tobacco Jar

A good 18th century Dutch tobacco jar, having a domed inlaid and fitted mahogany lid that is centered with a drum and brass ringed handle. The body comprises of alternate vertical staves of ebony, rosewood and boxwood and all are secured at the top and base with a narrow brass band. The interior has a separate conforming lead lid to keep the tobacco from drying out. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
