S/4713 Antique Treen 19th Century Boxwood Screw Type Pocket Nutcracker

An excellent 19th century boxwood screw type pocket nutcracker, beautifully carved all over with roundels, having a screw thread and a circular thumb piece. Examples are illustrated in the Art and Character of Nutcrackers by Arlene and George Wagner on page 71, and also in Treen for the Table by Jonathan Levi on page 156. The whole has a lovely colour and patination.
