S/4831 Antique Treen 19th Century Oak Cat

A pleasing oak cat having six well turned legs and ball centre of traditional form. If made of metal they were used as a plate warmer before the fire. Wooden ones were used for work baskets or flower bowl stands, and they were so called, as they always land on their feet. The whole has a lovely honey colour and retains a patination.
