S/4873 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Mahogany Snuff Shoe

A rare lady's small mahogany snuff shoe, extensively decorated with brass pique, including the underside, which has a protruding heel. The separate sliding lid is also decorated with pique S scrolls. Small snuff shoes or boxes were used by ladies and were easily concealed. The whole has an excellent rich colour and patination.
