S/4902 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Coquilla Nut Nutmeg or Spice Grater
A good example of an early 19th century coquilla nut nutmeg or spice grater, made of three sections and having a carved mushroom top finial that unscrews to gain access to the underside of the metal grater, which again has a screw thread to gain access to the base container and grated nutmeg or spice. The whole is intricately carved with lines, chip carving and basket weave decoration, has a medium honey colour and retains a patination.
