S/4903 Antique Treen 19th Century Tunbridge Ware Whitewood Nutmeg or Spice Grater

A small Tunbridge whitewood ware decorated nutmeg or spice grater, having a lid that has a coloured print titled, 'Brighton Pier showing the Marine Parade and Chain Pier' and when unscrewed it reveals the grater. The base also has a compartment with a screw thread to gain access to the grated nutmeg. The whole is painted and decorated with circular bands of red, black and green. Brighton Chain Pier was built in 1823 and was destroyed by a fire in 1896.
