S/5013 Antique Treen Late 19th Century Scandinavian Bentwood Pine Food or Trinket Box

An oval pine Scandinavian bentwood food or trinket box, having a wood sprung fitted lid in the usual manner with a raised loop handle. The lid and body is profusely decorated with punch work and dated on the side 1899. The overlap join is held in place with woven cane and the solid pine base is initialled E.A.S. The whole has a pleasing colour, grain and patination.
