S/5102 Antique Treen 19th Century Coromandel Wood and Inlaid String Barrel
A good quality coromandel wood string barrel, having vertical bands of tulipwood crossbanding with boxwood and holly stringing. The base unscrews revealing an interior spindle for the twine, which one can release by turning the protruding finial. The twine then exits through a small brass tap mounted with a steel cutter. The whole has a good rich colour, grain and patination.
