S/5079 Antique Treen 19th Century Coquilla Nut Pomander
An excellent quality intricately carved coquilla nut pomander made in two sections with a screw thread with intricate carving depicting flowers, foliage, a violin, trumpet and harp. The whole has an excellent colour and retains a patination. Coquillas are the nuts of the Attelea Funifera, a palm known in Brazil as the Piassaba. The trees thrive in the swampy ground on the eastern side of South America.
