S/5050 Antique Treen 19th Century Walnut Go to Bed

A circular two section walnut go to bed of lighthouse form, having a rounded fitted protruding top and a central brass finial for the match. The vacant interior is for storing matches and the base has a sand paper inset to strike the match. As well as lighting the way to bed, they were also used on the desk for melting sealing wax for letters. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
