S/5069 Antique Treen 18th Century Cherry Wood Rolling Pin

A and fine quality 18th century cherry wood rolling pin, having rare cast pewter finials to each end. The cherry wood centre is larger in diameter than the ends, as is was used for rolling pastry when the crust needs to be thinner towards the middle. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.

A slightly larger one was sold in the Shepherd Collection at Sothebys lot 237 in 1983.

Sold 1¾ in. (4.5 cm.) Diameter English Circa 1780
