S/5235 Antique Treen 18th Century Scottish Beech Quaich of Large Proportions

A good example of a Scottish beech quaich of large proportions, having four protruding lugs showing the chisel marks between each lug. It has extensive pole lathe turnings to both the inside and exterior, which also has double incised lines. It has a flat spot on one side with bark showing where the turner ran out of wood. The whole is raised on a very shallow foot with a cut to the base, possibly a mark to identify the maker. It has a good rich colour and patination.
