S/5251 Antique Treen Late 19th Century Sycamore Powder Bowl

A circular late Victorian sycamore powder bowl, having a screw thread domed cork lined lid revealing a glass container for the powder and puff. The lid is stamped S. Maw and Son and Thompson London, who were pharmacy suppliers working from 17-12 Aldersgate London between 1918-1920. The firm originally were established in Aldersgate Street in 1828 under the name of J.S. Maw, moving to Monken Hadley, Barnet in 1940. The whole has a pleasing colour and patination.
