S/5242 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Pressed Wood Ebonised Napoleonic Commemorative Snuff Box

A most interesting circular snuff box, having an interior metal rim. The top has a comprehensive scene described in French on the lower portion as: the 1807 meeting of the Emperors of France and Russia and the King of Prussia on the Nieman River. The intricate scene incorporates many figures in detailed relief and the whole has a dark rich colour and patination.
