S/5299 Antique Treen 19th Century Boxwood Apothecary's Pestle and Mortar
A most unusual boxwood apothecary's pestle and mortar, which comprises of a circular mortar with a screw fitting lid, that has the pestle of mushroom form inside for travelling purposes and would have been used for grinding medicinal powders etc. The whole has a lovely honey colour and fine patination, as often found with boxwood items.
