S/4956 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood Biscuit Mould

A mid 19th century English fruitwood biscuit mould, beautifully carved featuring the Royal Cipher above the words, Dieu et Mon Droit (God is on my Right). It also features the company name of William Hill and Son and after research in the Lancet of 1851, an advertisement states they operated from 60, Bishopsgate Street, London, as makers of nutritious and wholesale digestive biscuits and also stating that they were bread and biscuit bakers in ordinary to her Majesty the Queen. We consider it to be an extremely rare and exciting item, with an interesting provenance and history, in excellent condition and of a good colour and patination.
