S/5312 Antique Treen 19th Century British India Shallow Platter

An attractive Swat Valley platter with incised lines on the interior and underside. The Swat Valley is a natural geographic region surrounding the Swat River and was a major centre for early Buddhism under the ancient Kingdom of Gandhara, which was inherited by Pakistan following India's independence from British rule. The whole has an excellent colour showing signs of use with a good patination.
