S/5342 Antique Treen 19th Century Iron Banded Staved Oak Costrel

An attractive staved oak costrel, having four riveted iron bands in the traditional manner, with a folding wire handle. The small raised bung hole has an unusual iron band and is on a raised chamfered sided platform, with a small air hole to one side, which has a matchstick sized protruding plug, that we have not come across before. The whole has an excellent rich colour and patination.
