S/5397 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Scandinavian Oval Birch Food Box Dated 1812

An unusual Scandinavian oval birch Food food box having punch work decoration and dated on the lid 1812. The construction is of traditional form with overlap banding, held in position with cane strap work. It is carved on the base with the name or initials SID. The whole has a pleasing colour and retains a patination.
