S/5399 Antique Treen Late Victorian Carved Wood Ink Well in the form of a nut

An unusual wooden table top ink well in the form of a nut in a basket, having a protruding branch stem acting as a handle. The nut is hinged and opens to reveal a small glass circular ink pot, fitted into a recess of the base. The whole has a medium colour and retains a patination.
