S/5345 Antique Treen Sailor's Beech Spoon of the Georgian Period
A most interesting spoon with a shaped and carved handle, having an end incised with a primitive head of a whale with eyes and mouth. It is a most tactile item of treen, presumably belonging to a sailor on a whaling ship. The whole has a dark rich colour and good patination.
