S/5394 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Rosewood Cake or Pie Peel

A delightful small rosewood cake or pie peel of traditional form, the larger ones are for removing bread from brick ovens, while the smaller ones, as in this instance, are for pies or cakes. The long handled ones, 4-6 feet, were used by baker's for large ovens and if between 8-10 inches they were used for loaves and 6-8 inches, for pies in smaller ovens, which were often found at the sides of large open hearths. The whole has a dark rich colour and retains a patination.
