S/5450 Antique Treen Georgian Long Handled Snuff Spoon
A rare fine quality Georgian Period tobacconist's snuff spoon, having a finely turned slender fruitwood handle with incised line decoration. The shaft and bowl is made of Sheffield plate, i.e. silver on copper. Tobacconists kept snuff in tall jars, so a long handled spoon was needed to measure and extract the snuff when selling to clients to fill their snuff boxes.
