S/5543 Antique Treen 19th Century Burr Birch Lidded Herb Bowl

A most attractive Scandinavian burr birch locking herb bowl, having a circular lid with a raised rectangular handle, that has a locking device known as a 'hit and miss' of two lugs that fit in a certain position on the rim of the base. The whole, of rounded form, has chip carved circular bands of decoration and is raised on a shallow foot. It has a most excellent honey colour and patination.
