S/5635 Antique Treen 18th Century Lignum Vitae Pestle and Mortar

A good mid 18th century heart wood lignum vitae mortar of tapered form, having a pronounced reeded band and a deep stepped vertical foot. The heart wood pestle, of well turned proportions, has a shaped ring turned handle and knob end. Both have an excellent rich colour, good grain and patination.
