S/5623 Antique Brass Cased Mizer's Snuff Box of the Georgian Period

A fine quality Georgian mizer's snuff box, having a brass face that is finely engraved with foliage and a curled snake in a raised figure of eight, which revolves on a central steel pin to reveal the twin apertures to obtain the snuff. The back brass plate is also engraved with a prancing unicorn and snake. The wooden walnut centre, with concave corners, is between the two brass plates held with brass rivets. It is a most unusual snuff box, intricately made with great attention to detail.
