S/5682 Antique Treen Late 19th Century Swedish Food or Fruit Trough

A most pleasing birch food or fruit trough, carved from a branch, which retains a small amount of bark on the underside. It is carved twice with capital letters on the base KIES and dated 1881. It is a most tactile item with the grain running lengthwise and has a lovely honey colour with a rounded top edge and excellent patination.
